00:00 A selection of reels by Dublin musicians and teachers Sara Jane and Emma Woods on flute and fiddle, respectively. They play “The Wind That Shakes the Barley”, “Tomeen O’Dea’s Reel” and Micko Russell’s version of “The Mason’s Apron”.
03:45 Also sisters from Dublin, Kylie Moynagh on concertina and Lindsey on harp play two jigs learned from the playing of Clare musicians Pádraig Ó Raghallaigh and Pádraig Rynne.
07:07 Maeve De Buitléir from Ennis, Co. Clare on harp joins Niamh Brett from Co. Roscommon on button accordion for a selection of Reels. Then, Clare-born fiddle player Mick Gavin, who has been living and playing music in Detroit, Michigan, USA for over thirty years. He is joined by his son Mike for a selection of jigs. The first is “Dooney’s Rock”, composed by Seán Ryan and the second is “Cape Breton Dream.”
09:02 Now a slow air, “An Fedthán”, meaning “The Gentle Breeze” played on flute by Sinéad Fleming from Camross, Co. Laois.
13:59 Two jigs played by Mike Gavin on fiddle and Colleen Shanks on concert flute, both from Detroit, Michigan. They learned the first tune from the playing of Dublin Uilleann Piper Gay McKeown and the second is “Sky Road”, composed by their friend Tyler Duncan.
16:36 We conclude with Co. Clare musicians Sinéad Heaghney on fiddle and Damien O’Reilly on button accordion. They play two reels, “Tom Ward’s Downfall” and “The Old Oak Tree.”
