ComhaltasLive #244 - 1: Clare Fiddle Player Tara Breen
Happy Leap Year.
Today we present a selection of tunes by Clare fiddle player Tara Breen, who has won All-Ireland honours on several instruments. Tara plays a hornpipe, “The Second Star” learned from the playing of Dessie Donnelly, followed by two reels: “Paddy Ryan’s Dream” and “President Garfield’s”, which she learned from the playing of fiddle player Máire O’Keefe.
This selection is dedicated to Chris and Ciarán Algar from Stoke-on-Trent in England, who sent us a very encouraging note. Chris’ son Ciarán won the All-Ireland Under-12 fiddle slow air title in Tullamore in 2007 and receives occasional tuition from Máire, who lives in Kinvara, Co. Galway.
