00:00 One of the great old multi-part hornpipes, “The Drunken Sailor”, played by concertina player Edel Fox from Miltown Malbay, Co. Clare. Edel was TG4 Young Musician of the Year in 2004 and has toured Britain and North America with Comhaltas.
04:45 From Mainistir, Co. Limerick, flute player Ronan Ryan plays two reels: “The Piper’s Despair” and “The Fox on the Prowl”, which was composed by Vincent Broderick and is this week’s tutorial.
08:39 Three jigs: “Paddy Fahy’s”, “Dingle David” (composed by Cian O’Grady) and “Jerry Mulholland’s”, played by button accordion player Damien McKee, joined by Seán Óg Graham on guitar. Damien and Seán Óg come from Co. Antrim.
13:38 Flute player Liam Ó Riain from Ennis, Co. Clare plays two reels: “The Concert Reel” and “The Baltimore Salute”, which he learned at Scoil Éigse from June McCormack.
16:22 Concluding this week’s programme, uilleann piper Ryan Murphy from Fermoy, Co. Cork plays two jigs: “Sport”, which was composed by Peadar Ó Riada, and “Paidín O’Rafferty”. Ryan learned his music from well-known piper Jimmy Morrison.
