Here are some summer tunes to chase away these winter storms! This week we bring you music from the Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2009, held in August at Tullamore, Co. Offaly. This week’s programme includes selections from the Scoil Éigse tutors’ concert, Mairéad Hickey in a street session, and the Templeglantine, Pearl River, Botha, Ceolus and Old Bay Céilí Bands from the senior competition.

00:00	From the Scoil Éigse Tutors’ Concert at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2009, a selection of reels played by a group of the tutors. They play “The Moving Pint” and “Dog Big and Dog Little”, which were recorded by Frankie Gavin in the 1980s. The tutors are: Pádraig McGovern from Co. Leitrim, pipes; Oisín MacDiarmada (fiddle) and Maíre NicDhiarmada (flute), both from Co. Sligo; Pádraig King from Co. Limerick, accordion; Sabina McCague from Co. Monaghan, fiddle; Maura Walsh form Co. Kerry, concertina and Eileen Gannon from St. Louis, Missouri, USA, on the harp.
03:39	Five Scoil Éigse Tutors at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2009 play two jigs: “Willie Thompson’s” and “Old Men Dillon” (also known as “The Mug of Grown Ale”). The tutors are: Emma Woods (fiddle) and Sara Jane Woods (flute), both from Dublin; Sharon Carroll (concertina), Maria Ging (fiddle) and Adrian Brady (piano), all from Co. Offaly. Scoil Éigse 2009, held in Tullamore, Co. Offaly, was attended by more than 800 pupils with tuition provided over a week by more than 80 tutors.
05:58	During one of the many informal street sessions at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2009, All-Ireland U-12 fiddle champion for 2008, Mairéad Hickey from Cork City played two reels: “The College Groves” and “Paddy Fahy’s”.
09:02	Playing in the Senior Céilí Band Competition at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2009, the Templeglantine Céilí Band from West Limerick play a set of jigs. Members of the band are: Eibhlín Healy, Patricia Wright and Bríd Ní Mhurchú, fiddles; Siobhán Ní Chonnaráin and Jackie Healy, flutes; Willie Larkin, accordion; John Larkin, banjo; Maireád Corridan, concertina; Aileen Dillane, piano and Pat Buckey on drums.
11:52	From New York, USA, The Pearl River Céilí Band play “Jim Erwin’s Hornpipe” composed by Ed Reavy. Band members are: Dylan Foley, flute; Erin Loughran, Maeve Flanagan, Margaret Dudasik and Deirdre Brennan, fiddles; Lyndsey Beatuex, concertina; Blaithín Loughran and Pamela Geraghty, button accordion; Emily McShane, piano and Michael Fee on drums.
13:35	The Botha Céilí Band from Co. Fermanagh play a set of reels at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2009: “St. Patrick’s Night” (composed by Paddy O’Brien) and “The Fox on the Prowl” (composed by Vincent Broderick). Members of the band are: Ashling McPhillips and Lorena Maguire, flutes; Maggie McGuire, Moira Connelly and Micky Keer, fiddles; Eoghan Maguire, banjo; Catherine Mulligan and Chris Maguire, accordions; Ronan Warnock, piano and Charlene Bradley on drums.
15:59	A selection of jigs by the Ceolus Céilí Band, Gort Leitreach, Co. Leitrim at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2009. Musicians are: Michael McNamara and Olive McTigue, flutes; Irene Gukian, Pádraig Reilly, Enda McNamara and Conor Ward, fiddles; Ray McNamara, pipes; Maeve Reynolds, accordion; Brian Ryan, piano and Martin Murphy on drums.
18:34	The Old Bay Céilí Band from New Jersey and Silver Spring, Maryland, USA, with a selection of reels: “Cooley’s” and “Maud Millar’s” at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2009. Band members are: Rosie Shipley, Jim Egan, Danny Noveck, fiddles; Laura Byrne Egan and Brendan Bell, flutes; Bob Smith, banjo; Séan McComiskey and Peter Brico, accordion; Matt Mulaueen, piano and Joshua Dukes on drums.
