Highlights from the recent Cooley/Collins Festival in Gort, Co. Galway, as well as more great performances from Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2010 in Cavan.

00:00 The Clare/Galway quartet of Eamon (flute) and Geraldine (piano) Cotter, Maeve Donnelly (fiddle) and Charlie Harris (accordion); play a selection of two jigs each, one known as the pipe on the hob. The first is a three-part, which is in O’Neill’s 1001 and was recorded by Tipperary accordionist Paddy O’Brien and also by piper Leo Rowsome, the second is a two-part and was recorded by Joe Burke and Andy McGann. This recording was made at the Cooley/Collins Festival Concert in Gort, Co. Galway on the 24th of October 2010.

Meath plays a selection of two reels known as “Jim Coleman’s” at the Cooley/Collins Concert in Gort on the 24th of October 2010. Pádraig Keane (also an uileann piper) provides bodhrán accompaniment, they are both members of the group “Eamhain Macha”.

Fermanagh play a selection of jigs - “The Coming of Spring” and “The Wandering Minstrel”.Band members are - Maggie Maguire, Maria Connelly and Michael Kerr (Fiddles), Ashling McPhillips and Lorena Maguire (flutes), Chris Maguire and Catherine Mulligan (accordions), Owen Maguire (banjo), Ronan Warnock (piano) and Kieran Leonard (drums).
09:09 Taking second place at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2010, Ceoltóirí na Mainistreach from Co. Clare play a selection of reels - “Devanney’s Goat” and “The Sally Gardens”. Band members are Anne Marie Vaughan, Finola Ryan and Sinéad Heagney on fiddles, Liam Ryan and John Rynne on flutes, Mike Butler on accordion, Jack Talty on concertina, Liam Lewis on banjo, Marie Quigley on piano and Eddie McMahon on drums.
11:39 All-Ireland Under-18 Fiddle Champion for 2010, Billy O’Brien from Waterford, plays the multi-part hornpipe “The Drunken Sailor”.
15:46 Taking third-place in the Under-18 Fiddle Competition at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2010, Aoife Cunningham from Crosskeys, Co. Cavan plays “The Gold Ring” jig (D version).
18:11 In the Under-18 Fiddle Competition at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2010, Adam Cole-Mullen from Hanafin/Cooley CCÉ, Boston, USA plays “The High Level Hornpipe”.
