00:00 A selection of slides recorded on the 2nd of February 2012 in Templeglantine in West Limerick by Bríd Murphy (fiddle), Willie Larkin (accordion) and Kieran Flavin (bodhrán). Willie has recently set up a new national scheme for the teaching of music in primary schools around the country - the Comhaltas Schools Outreach (CSO), the website gives a very good outline of the scheme as well as a very enthusiastic endorsement by Minister for the Arts, Heritage and the Gealtacht Jimmy Deenihan. Incidentally Kieran learned his music at primary school where Willie was researching and developing the scheme on a pilot basis over the last six or seven years. Kieran has since won three All-Ireland titles on tin whistle. Interested schools and music teachers should refer to the website.

04:38 All-Ireland champion concertina player Mairéad Corridan from Templeglantine CCÉ in West Limerick plays two reels - “Hughie’s Cap” (by Ed Reavy) and “The Maids of Mitchelstown”. Mairéad learned her early music at National School in Abbeyfeale, Co. Limerick under the Comhaltas Schools Outreach scheme (CSO), which was being piloted and developed by Willie Larkin. 07:09 A fiddle and flute duet by Patricia Wright and Jackie Healy respectively from Templeglantine CCÉ in West Limerick. They play a hornpipe by Paddy’ O’Brien followed by a reel. Both are members of the Templeglantine Céílí Band, All-Ireland Champions 2011. Recorded on 2nd of Febrary, 2012.
10:01 Two jigs - “The Boys of the Town” and “Paddy Falvy’s” - by All-Ireland Under-12 banjo champion John Forde, Templeglantine CCÉ, West Limerick. John learned his music under the CSO scheme developed by Willie Larkin and now available to all primary schools. See
12:31 Recorded in the Devon Inn, Templeglantine, Co. Limerick on 2nd of February 2012, a selection of reels - “The Plough and the Stars” and “The French Canadian” - played by David Healy (accordion) and Kieran Flavin (concert flute). They are joined on bodhrán by Tadgh Conway from Tullamore, Co. Offaly, who happened to be a guest at the hotel.
15:00 A selection of jigs played by 2010 All-Ireland Under-12 Champion banjo player Timmy Flaherty, who learned the tunes from Willie Larkin and Aisling Neville. Recorded in Templeglantine, Co. Limerick on 2nd of February 2012.
17:27 A slow air - “A Spailpín A Rún” - played on concert flute by Jackie Healy, a member of the Templeglantine Céilí Band who won the All-Ireland title in 2010 in Cavan.
20:03 A selection of jigs played by Co. Tipperary musician Claire Quinn on fiddle and Pauric Stapleton on concert flute. The recording was made at a special concert in the Gaelscoil, Nenagh to showcase the music of many of the younger musicians in the county through the Tipperary Youth Ensemble. Claire and Pauric have devoted a lot of their time and talent to this youth project.
