517.01 At a session at the Comhaltas North America Convention in Chicago, USA, in April 2017, George MacAdam from Tullycorbett Comhaltas branch in Co. Monaghan, plays a selection of Reels on banjo. Piano accompaniment is by Kieran Flanagan from Pearl River, New York. Amongst the listeners are many well-known musicians including Bill McEvoy who founded Comhaltas in North America and Comhaltas photographer Ena Doocey from Waterford.

517.02 From 6 different countries, a group of 10 musicians from University of Limerick play a selection of 3 Jigs at a session in ‘The Hurlers’ Pub, Limerick on 2nd May 2017. The Jigs are - “Winnie Hayes’ jig”, “The hag at the churn” and “The legacy jig”. The musicians are - Conor Broderick, Galway; Jon Antonsson, Sweden; Calum Read, England; Vincent Murphy, Wexford; Emri Stenn, Florida, USA; Robbie Walshe, Wicklow; Sylvain Pourtier, France; Simon Pfisterer, Germany; Micheál Broderick, Limerick and Seán Kellegher, England.

517.03 Taking 2nd place in Ladies Senior Full Set at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2016 in Ennis, Co. Clare, Rithim an Chláir dancers, Sráid na Cathrach, CCÉ, Laichtín Naofa, Co. Clare. Members of the group are - Aisling Lillis, Aisling Moroney, Aoife Lillis, Caoimhe McMahon, Michelle Curtin, Orlaith Reidy, Rachel O’ Donnell and Sarah Cunningham.

517.04 From Tokyo, Japan, Chihiro Tanaka, Kozo Toyota and Emiri Gondo, play “The Golden Eagle” hornpipe in Senior Trios competition at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2016.

517.05 Ceoltóirí Crosskeys Céilí Band from Loughbeg, Co. Antrim, play a Hornpipe - “The flowing tide” (Seán Ryan) in the Senior Céilí Bands competition at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2016 in Ennis, Co. Clare. Members of the band are - Maria and Maireád Mitchell, Kate O’ Brien and Martin Agnew on fiddles; Seána Agnew and Leona Neeson on flutes; Lauren Hegarty and Eimhear Mulholland on accordions; Maeve Boylan on piano and John Agnew on drums.

517.06 Recorded at their native Comhaltas branch in Freemount, Co. Cork, on 20th November 2016, Emma Moynihan on concert flute and her brother Liam on guitar, play a Reel - “The Caucus”. Emma is a member of the Crossfields Céilí Band who won the All-Ireland U-18 Céilí Band competition for the second year in a row in 2016, coached by Alan Finn.

517.07 Taking 2nd place in 15-18 fiddle competition at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2016 in Ennis, Co. Clare, Orla O’ Connor from CCÉ, Leac Snámha, Co. Kerry, plays “Lord Gordon’s Reel”.

517.08 Neansaí Ní Choisdealbha, the very popular presenter of Irish Traditional music programming on Radio na Gaeltachta, plays 2 Hornpipes - “The swan” (Seán Ryan) and “Sweeps hornpipe” also known as “The Belfast hornpipe”. Recorded at the “Jig of Life” Concert (organised each year by Martin Donohue) in Town Hall, Cavan on 27th August 2016. Piano accompaniment is by Philip Clarke, Cavan. Incidentally, the next Concert will be held on Friday 11th August 2017 in Farnham Arms Hotel in Cavan.

517.09 Grace King, CCÉ, Clifden, Co. Galway plays a Reel, composed by Paddy Fahy, in 15-18 fiddle competition at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2016 in Ennis, Co. Clare.

517.10 All-Ireland U-15 champion and runner-up on several instruments for 2016, Ademar O’ Connor from CCÉ, Edenderry, Co. Offaly, plays a selection of Jigs on fiddle, commencing with “The Lakes of Killarney”. Guitar accompaniment is by Gerry McMahon. Recorded at the special Nyah Concert in Cavan on 27th August 2016 (organised by Martin Donohoe) to mark the launch of “The Cavan Bucks” CD (featuring Zoran Donohue, Barry Conaty and Ellen Grant) and the presentation of ‘The Jig of Life’ award to renowned accordion player Darren Breslin. The next Concert will be held on Friday 11th August 2017 in the Farnham Arms Hotel in Cavan.

517.11 Dublin harpist and concertina player Aoife Ní Argáin plays a Hornpipe - “The cuckoo’s nest” (on concertina) at a recording in Comhaltas headquarters at Cultúrlann na hÉireann in Dublin on 9th January 2017. Aoife is a member of CCÉ, Cr. Bheartla Uí Fhlatharta, Co. Kildare.

517.12 In Senior Button Accordion competition at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2016 in Ennis, Co. Clare, Claire Ann Kearns from CCÉ, Killeigh, Co. Offaly, plays “The Colliers reel”.

517.13 Taking 1st place in Senior Duets competition at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2016, Megan Duffy and Ann Marie Bell from CCÉ, Fred Finn, Sligo, play a Jig - “Charlie Hunter’s”.

517.14 Lucia Mac Partlin, CCÉ, Ormond, Nenagh, Co. Tipperary, plays a Hornpipe In the Senior Fiddle competition at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2016 in Ennis, Co. Clare.

517.15 Taking 3rd place in 15-18 Fiddle competition at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2016, Senan Ó Móráin from Cúil an tSúdaire, Co. Laois, plays a 4-part Jig - “The Knocknagow”.
