562.01 The Four Corners Céilí Band from Dundalk, Co. Louth, play a Hornpipe - “Spellan’s fiddle” - in Senior Céilí Band Competition at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2018 in Drogheda, Co. Louth. Band members are : on Fiddles - Tadhg Mulligan, Michelle Foy and Jason McGuinness ; Flutes - Oisín Morrison, Eibhlín Ní Shúilleabháin and Jarlath MacGabhann; Accordion - John McCann; Concertina - Sárán Mulligan; Piano - Seán Ó Casaide; Drums - Damien McGuinness. 562.02 Keeping alive the lovely old West Limerick style of Flute playing enhanced by a simple and supportive foot rhythm, John Harnett plays two Reels. John told me he inherited the tradition from his grandfather Jack Harnett from Athea in West Limerick to whom he dedicated the second Reel which he (John) composed and called “Jack the mason’s reel”. 562.03 Síofra Thornton, Keelan McGrath and Blaithín Kennedy from Ballycommon and Ormond CCE branches, Nenagh, Co. Tipperary, play a Hornpipe when taking 2nd place in Senior Trios at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2018 in Drogheda, Co. Louth. 562.04 Louie Bannon from CCÉ, Derrylin, Co. Fermanagh, plays a Reel - “The Spey in Spate” in 15-18 Fiddle Competition at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2018 in Drogheda, Co. Louth. 562.05 Taking 1st place in 15-18 Céilí Bands Competition at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2018, Crossfields Céilí Band, CCÉ, Cr. Chronáin, Co. Cork, play a March. This was the Band’s 3rd successive win in the competition. They are coached by Alan Finn, leader of the Shandrum Céilí Band who also won their 3rd successive Senior All-Ireland at Fleadh Cheoil 2018. Incidentally they are launching their new CD on Sunday 19th May 2019 in Buttevant, Co. Cork. 562.06 From New York, USA, Andrew Caden and Fiona Flanagan play a Jig - “Only for Barney” in 15-18 Duets Competition at Fleadh Cheoil na hEireann 2018 in Drogheda, Co. Louth. 562.07 Rosie Ferguson, CCÉ, Rinn Mhic Giolla Rua, Co. Down, plays a Hornpipe in Senior Fiddle competition at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2018. 562.08 Taking 2nd place in 15-18 Duets competition at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2018, Una and Aoife McGlinchey, CCÉ, Fintona, Co. Tyrone, play a Jig - “The Mooncoin jig”. 562.09 Selection played by St. James the Great Senior Grúpa Ceoil at Fleadh Cheoil na hEireann 2018 in Drogheda, Co. Louth. 562.10 Taking 2nd place in Senior Button Accordion Competition at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2018 in Drogheda, Co. Louth, Seamus Tiernan, CCÉ, Caislean a Bharraigh, Mayo, plays a Hornpipe - “The bee’s wing”. 562.11 Naomh Fearnáin Céilí Band from CCÉ, Tireragh, Sligo, play a selection of Reels in 15 -18 Céilí Bands Competition at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2018 in Drogheda, Co. Louth. 562.12 Patrick O’ Loughlin, Batterstown, Co. Meath, plays a Jig in Senior Button Accordion Competition at Fleadh Cheoil na hEireann 2018 in Drogheda, Co. Louth. 562.13 Three fiddle players, Clare Walsh (well-known Dublin music teacher), her niece Sarah (in centre) and her daughter Lauryn, play a Jig - “The stormy night” (P. O’ Brien). Recorded at a session in Cultúrlann na hÉireann, Monkstown, Dublin on 11th February 2019. 562.14 Caitríona Ní Luasa, Cúil Aodha, Macroom, Co. Cork, plays a Slow Air - “The wild geese” in Senior Fiddle Competition at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2018 in Drogheda, Co. Louth. 562.15 Musicians and Dancers in Macalla na hÉireann, the Comhaltas Concert Tour of Ireland Group 2018, with a selection of Jigs - “Tommy Peoples’ jig”, “Paddy Fahy’s” and “The reaper”. Recorded in Cois na hAbhna, Ennis, Co. Clare on 16th October 2018.
