632.01 A very unusual type of tune known as a ‘Linear Tune’ - where the melody develops throughout the whole tune without repetition - called ‘’Pléaracha na Ruarcach’’ composed by Turlough O’ Carolan (1670/1738) and played on flute by Micheál Ó hAlmhain and Eimear Coughlan on harp at the Scoil Éigse Tutors’ Concert at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2018.

632.02 Two former All-Ireland U-12 Fiddle Champions from Nenagh Ormond CCÉ, Mairéad O’ Brien (2018) and Laoise Kennedy (2019) play Reels - “Dowd’s favourite” and “Laurel’s”. Their Tutor is well-known local Fiddle player Liz Gaughan Quinn who, with her husband Brendan and colleagues, does so much to promote the music in the area. Incidentally, Laoise won the “Up and coming Fiddler of London “ competition 2022.

632.03 Taking 2nd place at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2018, Knocknashee Céilí Band from CCÉ, Paddy Killoran, Sligo, play a selection of Jigs - “The Banks of Newfoundland” and “The Nightingale”. Band members are - Fiddles: Caoimhe Kearins, Dylan Carlos and Marie Barry; Flutes: Mick Mulvey and Cian Kearins; Accordions: Declan Payne and Daithí Gormley; Banjo: Theresa O’ Grady; Piano: Catherine McHugh; Drums: Michael Sheridan.

632.04 Lovely Banjo playing by 9 years old Aoife Dunleavy as she plays a challenging Reel - “The Oak Tree” by Tommy Peoples, enjoyed by her proud Tutor Joe Connaire and friends. Accompaniment is by Jackie O’ Meara on guitar. Sincere thanks to Joe and to Colette Glynn for all their help with the recording. No doubt Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2022 in Mullingar will be a huge success with the amazing work of Joe, Colette and all of their colleagues.

632.05 In 15-18 Céilí Bands competition at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2018, Lendrum Céilí Band from CCÉ, Fintona, Co. Tyrone, play a selection of Reels - “The Sligo maid” and “Tear the Calico”.

632.06 In the Senior Duets Competition at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2018, Seán and Noel Angland, CCÉ, St. Albans, London and Southern Region, UK, play a Hornpipe - “Fly by Night”.

632.07 Multi-talented Robert Harvey from Mountrath, Co. Laois, plays 2 Reels composed by Martin Mulhaire - “The Golden Keyboard” and “Carmel O’ Mahony Mulhaire’s” - on concert flute. Robert holds 7 All-Ireland under-age titles including Concert Flute, Tin Whistle, Lilting and Whistling and he teaches the music. Recorded in Comhaltas Headquarters in Cultúrlann na hÉireann, Dublin on 11th February 2019.

632.08 Two Reels - “Mulhaire’s” and “McFadden’s Handsome Daughter” - played by fiddle players William and Tom Holmes from Rathcabbin. Recorded in Ballycommon Comhaltas Centre near Nenagh, Co. Tipperary, on 6th May 2022. See 631.03 and 631.10 for two other selections played by them. Thanks to Ned Kelly and Michael Murphy, who do so much to promote the music and culture in the area, for their help with the Recordings.

632.09 Ciaran Owens and John McCann, CCÉ, Derrylin and Lisnaskea, Co. Fermanagh, play a Reel - “Hand me down the Tackle” - in the Senior Duets Competition at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2018 in Drogheda, Co. Louth.

632.10 Former All-Ireland Champion Singer Kathryn Nea with a lovely rendition of “Come with me over the Mountain”, at a Recording session organised by Westmeath Comhaltas in the Bloomfield Hotel, Mullingar on 12th March 2022. Kathryn is from Castletowngeoghegan Comhaltas in Co. Westmeath.

632.11 A really nice energetic performance of the very old Reel “Bonny Kate” by Emma Corbett and Tomas Ahern when taking 2nd place in Senior Duets Competition at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2018 in Drogheda, Co. Louth. They are from CCÉ, Ballyduff, Ballinvella, Ballysaggart, Co. Waterford.

632.12 Two Reels - “Tommy Coen’s” and “The Galway Reel” (L. Redican) - played by fiddle player Aoibhín Morgan at a recording session in her local Warrenpoint Comhaltas Branch, Co. Down on 20th November 2021, so well organised by Kayley Curtis and Jimi Quinn.

632.13 “The Independent Hornpipe” played by L/R Catherine Meagher, Megan Davis and Rebecca Ryan at a session organised by their Tutor Michael Harty (flute player) and colleagues in their local Comhaltas Branch in Cahir, Co. Tipperary on 7th May 2022.

632.14 From New York, USA, Danny Burke and Brian Gallery play a Reel - “Seamus Thompson’s”- in the Senior Duets Competition at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2018 in Drogheda, Co. Louth. They are from the Mulligan-Quinn/Killoran-Clancy-Whelan branches of Comhaltas in New York.

632.15 Whistle player Emma O’ Brien with 2 Reels - “Jim Donoghue’s” and “I wish I never saw you”. Accompaniment is by Enda Seery on keyboard. Emma is from Castletowngeoghegan Comhaltas in Co. Westmeath. Recorded on 12th March 2022 in the Bloomfield Hotel in Mullingar, Co. Westmeath, with much appreciated help by Joe Connaire and Colette Glynn.
