Another selection by Laura Beagon (fiddle) from Co. Monaghan, Seán Óg Graham (accordion) and Chris McGlone (bodhrán), both from Co. Antrim. They play a selection of jigs which they learned from the playing of June McCormack and Micheal Rooney. No doubt Laura will be defending her All-Ireland title at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann, which takes place for the second successive year in Tullamore, Co. Offaly from 18th to 25th August.

Concert flute maestro Garry Shannon plays a set of jigs: the first is a composition of Dublin fiddle player Paul O’Shaughnessy, who was one of the team of tutors at the 2008 Meitheal Residential Summer School from 14th to 18th July. Garry is, of course, the co-ordinator of the school. Inaugurated in 2004, the school has been a huge success, attracting participants from all over Ireland and overseas. No doubt there will be huge interest in the 2009 school when details are announced at

Concertina player Jack Talty from Lissycasey, Co. Clare and flute player David O’Brien play two reels: the first was composed by John Brady and the second is “The Duke of Leinster’s Wife”. Jack is nephew of the great Noel Hill.

A set of jigs from button accordion player Nuala Hehir from Ennis, Co. Clare and fiddle player Liz Gaughan, originally from Manchester, England and now living in Nenagh, Co. Tipperary. They learned the first tune from Clare concertina player Gearóid O’Halloran and they associate the second with the late Joe Liddy, fiddle player and composer from Co. Leitrim.
