This week we bring you more music from Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann, including sets from Isaac Alderson (Uilleann Pipes), a fiddle trio from Pearl River, New York, the 2007-2009 Fleadh chairperson Attracta Brady, a street session from 2008, the Innisfree Céilí Band, Ronan Greene and Brian Lindsay playing in the fiddle competitions, and finishing up with some reels from the Allow Céilí Band.

From Fleadh Cheoil na nÉireann in 2008, the Allow Céilí Band from Co. Cork play a set of reels commencing with “Miss Mc Donald”. The band won the All-Ireland title in 2007.
Band members are: Meabh Buckley, Geraldine O’Callaghan, Aine O’Connel, fiddles; Gerry Nunan and William Pierse, flutes; John Carroll, accordion; Adrian McAuliffe, banjo; Eimear Buckley, concertina; Clodagh Buckley, piano and Pat Mulcahy on drums.

All-Ireland Under-18 fiddle champion for 2008, Brian Lindsay of New York, plays “The Knockawinna Jig” which is this week’s [tutorial] (http://comhaltas.ie/music/detail/the_knockawinna_jig/ “The Knockawinna Jig - Sheet Music”).
The jig was composed by Galway native Mícheál Ó hEidhin, retired Senior Music Inspector with the Department of Education and current Director of the Comhaltas SCT music education programme.

2008 All-Ireland Senior Céilí Band champions the Innisfree Céilí Band from Sligo play the march “O’Donnell Abú”.
Band members are: Cormac Mac Diarmada, Damian O’Brien and Oisín Mac Diarmada, fiddles; Máire Nic Dhiarmada Finbar McGreevy and David Sheridan, flutes; Paul Finn, button accordion; Oliver Loughlin, piano accordion; Charles O’Connor, piano and Daragh Kelly on drums.

A street session at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2008 in Tullamore, Co. Offaly, including: accordion player Tom Lawlor from Nenagh, Co. Tipperary, Teresa Larkin (piano accordion) and Dermot Maher (bodhrán), both from Roscrea, Co. Tipperary, and Joanne Ward from Castleconnell, Co. Limerick on fiddle.
They play two reels: “George White’s” and “The Corner House”, which was composed by Paddy Kelly. Incidentally, Tom is also well known as a repairer and tuner of accordion and concestinas and has manufactured a number of accordions.

Fiddle player and chairperson of the organising committee of Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann in 2007, 2008 and 2009, Attracta Brady from Tullamore is joined by Limerick flute player Patsy Maloney. With guitar accompaniment, they play two reels: “The Reel of Rio” (composed by Seán Ryan) and “Castle Kelly”.

The All-Ireland U-15 trio champions for 2003 were recorded at the Comhaltas North American Convention in New Jersey in April 2004: Erin Laughran, Maeve Flanagan and Deirdre Brennan from Pearl River, New York. They play three reels: “Tom Steele’s”, “The Crib of Perches” and “The White Leaf”.

A selection of reels: “Paddy Fahy’s” and “Gorman’s” played on Uilleann Pipes by Isaac Alderson, a member of the CCÉ Capt. Francis O’Neill branch in Chicago, USA. These tunes were recorded just Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann in Listowel in 2002, just after Isaac had won three All-Ireland Senior titles on flute, whistle and uilleann pipes.
