Comhaltas, celebrating its 60th anniversary, organised concerts featuring All-Ireland Champions on Fiddle and Button Accordion from 1951 to 1980 on the 29th and 30th of April 2011 in Tullamore, Co. Offaly. This programme features some of those Champions as well as mucis from Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2001 in Listowel.

Antóin Mac Gabhann from Co. Cavan was All-Ireland Fiddle Champion in 1971 and 1972 and played this selection of jigs at the Special Comhaltas Concert of Fiddle Champions in Tullamore on the 30th of April, 2011. The jigs are “Frank Burke’s” (fiddle player in Chacago, USA) and “You’re Welcome Says Maureen and Hugh” (composed by Antóin in honour of his late brother Hugh in New York, USA).

John Bowe, originally from Co. Offaly and living for many years in London, plays a selection of jigs at the Concert of All-Ireland Champions 1951-1980 in Tullamore on the 29th of April, 2011. John was All-Ireland Champion for 1963 and plays “First Night in America” and “The Coming of Spring” (composed by Paddy O’Brien). Guitar accompaniment is by John O’Connor.
