Recorded in their native Freemount in North Co. Cork on 20th November 2016, the Band are coached by Alan Finn - the leader of Shandrum Céilí Band who won Senior C. Band title 2016, also for the 2nd year in a row ! Band members (15-18) are Kate O’ Gorman, Amy Sheehy and Hannah O’ Flartery on fiddles; Marie O’ Gorman and Emma Moynihan on flutes; Shane Curtin on accordion; Cormac O’ Hanlon on concertina; Conor Daly on banjo; Fergus McGrath on drums and Niamh Fitzpatrick on piano.

A group of 18 musicians from DCU Trad Society in Dublin play a selection of Reels - “Janine’s fancy” (Ml. Harrisson) and “Farrell O’ Gara”, recorded on 1st December 2016 in DCU. Sincere thanks to Professor Daire Keogh, Deputy President DCU, and to Dr John Buckley, Music Lecturer in Dept. of Theology, Philosophy and Music at DCU, for their very kind invitation and for their help and courtesy. At the end of the selection Daire outlines the very important role of The Trad Society in the “new” DCU. Thanks also to Éadaoin Ní Mhaicín and Paul O’ Sullivan for organising the recording and for making it such an enjoyable occasion. We will be featuring many other recordings from the occasion in upcoming Comhaltas Live programmes.
