The Comhaltas National Folk Orchestra of Ireland (N.F.O.I.) perform a piece - “The Gold Ring” - arranged and orchestrated by Tom Doorley and compiled especially for Culture Night 2020.
Over the years the Orchestra, which is made up of over 60 of some of the most gifted young traditional and classical musicians and singers from Ireland and the U.K., has performed all over Ireland and in the U.K. In 2016 they were honoured to perform a specially commissioned show at the “Relatives of 1916 Concert” in the RDS, Dublin, and in January 2020 they performed in Kilmainham Gaol for Templebar TradFest with another commissioned piece “Reflections of Kilmainham”. They perform every year at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann. This piece, “The Gold Ring”, with the musicians performing from home was compiled by Graham Watson, in Clasac.
