A group of 7 Flute Players led by their Tutor Robert Harvey play a selection of Polkas - “the Killavil Postman” and “The Happy Polka”. Recorded in The Heritage House in Abbeyleix, Co. Laois on Saturday 21st January 2023. The Musicians are - Back Row L/R Tadhg Dalton, Tom Hudson and Robert Harvey. Front Row L/R Aoibheann Dalton, Eden Penfold, Tara Conway and Polly Nolan. Incidentally, Polly came 3rd in Flute Slow Airs U-12 and 2nd in Newly Composed Tunes (All Age-Groups) at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2022. Special thanks to Aaron Mackessey for his amazing work in organising the Recordings and to John Conway Chairman and his colleagues on Laois County Board of Comhaltas. Several of the Recordings have been included in previous Comhaltas Live Programmes and others will be included in upcoming Programmes. Sincere thanks also to Eoin McClearn, Manager of the magnificent Heritage House which is a wonderful Tourist attraction.

The renowned Mulcahy family, Michelle, Louise and Mick, thrilled the packed audience with several selections including these 2 Jigs - “Johnny Henry’s” and “Peter Browne’s”, at the Special Concert by CCÉ Craobh Pheig Uí Riain in Cappamore Community Centre in Limerick on Sunday afternoon 15th January 2023. The Concert was organised as a 100th Anniversary Tribute to Peig Ryan and marking the Comhaltas Branch’s 50th Anniversary. Peig’s contribution to the Traditional Culture of East Limerick has been remarkable throughout her long life. Sincere thanks to Tomás Ó Maoldomnaigh, who presented the Concert, and to Eddie Murphy for all their help with the Recording

The Suite celebrates 40 years of Comhaltas in Kildare by CCÉ, Craobh Bheartla Uí Fhlatharta. The Reels in this selection are “The Galway Rambler”, “Lady Ann Montgomery” and “The Duke of Leinster”, and the Dancers are Nuala Keane, Tracey Butler, Pat Murphy and Jim Monaghan.

From County Wexford, The Tuaisceart Loch Gorman Céilí Band play a selection of Reels commencing with “Kiss the Maid behind the Barrell”. They were one of the special guests at the Comhaltas Annual Christmas Dinner/Concert in Cultúrlann na hÉireann in Dublin on Saturday 10th December 2022. Joined by their teachers Mandy O’ Callaghan and Sinéad Tobin, the Band musicians are Éabha Redmond, Abbey Breen and Muireann Ní Chuilleann on flutes, Bobby O’ Callaghan on piano, Edwina Broughan, Clíodhna Ní Chuilleann, Anna Murphy and Úna Walsh on fiddles, Scott O’ Reilly on button accordion, Liam Redmond on banjo, Kayleigh O’ Callaghan, Bronagh Ryan and Jenna Cullen on concertinas and Oren Cullen on drums.

641.13 A lovely selection of Reels - “The Glasgow Reel” (also called “The Tamblin Reel”) and “The Mason’s Apron” - by Banjo Player Kerrie Heretty with guitar accompaniment by John Henry. Recorded at the Paddy Killoran Commemorative Concert in Ballymote, Co. Sligo on 17th September 2022. Kerrie, originally from Luton in England, is now living in Sligo where she makes a big contribution to Traditional Music.
641.14 Reel played by Danú McKinney and Cara and Rosie McGeary in 15-18 Trios Competition at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2022 in Mullingar. They are members of CCÉ, Ceide, Co. Armagh.
641.15 Taking 1st place in the Senior Céilí Bands Competition at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2022, Taobh na Mara Céilí Band from CCÉ, Cr. na gComorach, Waterford, play “Ruth’s March” which was composed by the Band’s Drummer Danny Collins and named after his daughter. 640.02 Three Jigs played by Elaine O’ Reilly (banjo) and Daithí Gormley (accordion) at the Paddy Killoran Commemorative Concert in Ballymote, Co. Sligo, on 17th Sept. 2022, with Piano accompaniment by Catherine McGee. The Jigs are “Charlie Mulvihill’s”, “Tommy Maguire’s” and “Larry Redican’s”. 640.11 Taking 3rd place in Senior Trios Competition at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2022, Ellen, Maeve and David Scott, CCÉ, Camross, Co. Laois, play a Hornpipe - “Fly by night”.
640.12 All-Ireland Champions 2022 in the Ladies Full Set competition, St. Joseph’s, Streamstown, Co. Westmeath, in one of their winning performances. Members of the Group are - Aoife Keegan, Caolin Elliffe, Ciara Daly, Joyce Conway, Katie Kelly, Sarah Conlon, Sarah McCormack and Zara Montgomery.
