Playing the fiddle since she was three years old and now sounding like a veteran at seven years of age Haley Richardson from Pittsgrove, New Jersey plays three reels - “Blackberry Blossom”, “The Silver Spire” and “The Dawn”. Haley’s teacher is Brian Conway and the recording was made at the Comhaltas North America Convention in April 2010.

Monsignor Charlie Coen from New York (on concertina) tells us about the gander who waddled from Woodford to New York to Inisfree. “The Waddling Gander” is a very old three-part jig, which Charlie learned from his father (also a concertina player) long before he left his native Woodford, Co. Galway in 1955 for New York. Charlie included the tune in a recording which he made. He never heard anyone else play the tune until he heard the Inisfree Céilí Band winning the All-Ireland in 2008 with the very same setting of the tune. Full credit to Charlie for keeping that particular gander alive!

Representing different generations of musicians in New York, Monsignor Charlie Coen on concertina and Dylan Foley on fiddle play a selection of reels known as “Fr. Kelly’s” by whom they were composed and who was from Woodford, Co. Galway. Incidentally, Charlie is also from Woodford and won three All-Ireland titles in one year - 1960. Dylan won the All-Ireland Under-18 Fiddle Competition in 2008.
