The musicians are Brian Conway (fiddle) and Joanie Madden (flute), USA; Mirella Murray (piano accordion), Connemara; and Kathleen Boyle (piano), Glasgow, Scotland. The Reels include “Morning Mist” (by Joe Burke) and “I Have No Money”.

Four young musicians recorded at the Munster Fleadh in Ballincollig, Co. Cork (left to right): Gearóid (banjo) and Darragh Curtin (fiddle), Brian O’Leary (accordion) and Suzanne Curtin (concert flute). The Curtin family are from Templeglantine CCÉ, Limerick and Brian O’Leary is from Gneevenaguilla, Co. Kerry. Incidentally, Brian is grandson of the legendary accordion player the late Johnny O’Leary. They play a selection of reels: “The Honeymoon Reel” and “O’Dwyer’s Reel”.

Appropriately, the reels were composed by Ed Reavy, who was born in Co. Cavan, and are named “The Fisherman’s Island” and “Never Was Piping So Gay”.

The musicians are (left-to-right): Andrew McGill, North Carolina and Deirdre Brennan, Erin Loughran and Maeve Flannagan from Pearl River, New York. They learned their music from Brian Conway and Rose Flannagan.

The Clare/Galway quartet of Eamon (flute) and Geraldine (piano) Cotter, Maeve Donnelly (fiddle) and Charlie Harris (accordion); play a selection of two jigs each, one known as the pipe on the hob. The first is a three-part, which is in O’Neill’s 1001 and was recorded by Tipperary accordionist Paddy O’Brien and also by piper Leo Rowsome, the second is a two-part and was recorded by Joe Burke and Andy McGann.
This recording was made at the Cooley/Collins Festival Concert in Gort, Co. Galway on the 24th of October 2010.
