O'Carolan Festival

By Ann Finnegan PRO

The ninth annual O’Carolan ‘Harp & Cultural Festival in Nobber, Co Meath (which was held during the first week-end in October last) drew the largest attendances ever to its musical & cultural programme.

During the traditional concert, the festival was officially opened by Mr Jim Fitzsimons MEP who congratulated the organisers for the ever-expanding breadth of their programme. The group Buttons & Bows, supported by local musicians, singers & dancers, delighted the packed house. An additional bonus to the night’s entertainment was the appearance of Meath All-Ireland Football Champions’ Captain, Tommy Dowd with the Sam Maguire Cup.
