Summer 2004

Eagarfhocal

The reception by President Mary McAleese at Áras an Uachtaráin for the Irish traditional music fraternity acknowledged a golden episode in cultural renaissance. This following on the 2003 Reception and her celebration of the 50th Anniversary of Comhaltas in 2001 was an impressive State salute to this historic era.

it is significant and fitting that Comhaltas would now look to the future as encapsulated in their mission statement: ‘The traditional arts should be an enriching part of the lives of Irish people everywhere, particularly our young people: they should be a living, highly visible and vibrant part of society: they should be easily accessible to all; and their unique social, cultural and economic benefits should be fully realised by communities and individuals throughout the country and in Irish communities abroad.’

Cosúil le bunaitheorií an Chomhaltais i 1951, tá ré nua romhainn agus iarracht nua ag teastáil ar an Ród seo Romhainn.
