Seisiún Amhránaíochta

A Seisiún Amhránaíochta is being held at Cultúrlann na hÉireann, Monkstown, on Monday March 8th, 2010 commencing at 8 p.m. It is being organised by members of Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann who wish to promote singing in the Irish Language. It is hoped that it will be the first of many such sessions to be organised over the next few months/ years. Songs will be in Irish only but all intros and discussion will be casually bi-lingual. The songs which we would hope to hear would include lots of songs which invite audience participation such as Cailleach an Airgid, Mise ‘gus Máire, Cailín Rua, Amhrán na Cuiginne, Máire Mhór, Oró Sé Do Bheatha ‘bhaile etc. in addition to many of the great songs from our national repertoire such as Róisín Dubh, Bean Dubh A’ Ghleanna, An Droighneann Donn, Úr Chill A’ Chreagáin etc. No one particular style will get exclusive attention. Singers and enthusiasts of all ages are welcome; the somewhat early start (8.00 p.m.) aims to facilitate young people/pupils etc. Fear A’ Tí : Séamus Mac Mathúna (086 3532642) Facilitator: John Deaton
