West London monthly seisiún 14th Sept 2007

Anyone who missed the wonderful Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann in Tullamore, Offaly, was able to catch some of the fun and the thrill of it all at the September seisiún of the West London branch Comhaltas Ceoltoiri Eireann. Sharon Kelly brought many of her music students to join other musicians for the evening.

During the interval, watched by a packed house, Sharon presented certificates to many of her students both for exams that they had taken and for the All Britain festival in which they’d taken part.

Congratulations to all who took part in the Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann, including branch members who are students of Sharon and of Marian Gill: Damien Mullane, Button Accordian Senior: 1st; One Row Melodeon Senior: 2nd; Michael Gaughan Mandolin Senior: 1st; Edward Gaughan Mouth organ Under 12: 2nd; Mary Ellen English One Row Melodeon Under 12: 3rd;

There’ll be some pictures of the evening on this site later. Although Michael won the mandolin title he played banjo on Friday. The mandolin was too quiet with such a crowd!

Members and supporters are cordially invited to the Annual General Meeting of the West London Branch 7:30–9:00 p.m. Friday 12th October at the Irish Cultural Centre, Blacks Road, Hammersmith, London W6 9DT. Beforehand 6 p.m. mass at Brooke Green & Holy Trinity church, 41 Brook Green, W6 7BL will be offered for Joan Burke, RIP. The AGM will be followed immediately by our monthly session. All are welcome to these 3 events.
