Barefield Comhaltas is renowned for its commitment to Irish traditional arts and culture. Over the years its bands and traditional groups, under the leadership of Denis Liddy, have excelled in promoting Irish traditional music and song both in Ireland and overseas. The musicians have also brought many trophies back to Clare both at Provincial and All-Ireland level - in fact the Under 18 Céilí Band, Tigh na Coille, won the All-Ireland title in 2006 in Letterkenny and retained it in Tullamore at the 2007 Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann.
Past achievements for the band included a trip to Manchester, UK for the annual Clare Association week-end in July 2000. Later that year several members of the band travelled to the south of France for the Voiron International festival. Barefield musicians also toured Sweden in 2006 and the USA in 2007.
One of the highlights of the group’s careers was their visit to Toronto in April 2001 for “Toronto 2001 - A Musical Odyssey” which celebrated the 50th Anniversary of Comhaltas at its North American Convention.
The Barefield group also have many CDs to their credit and their latest one has just been recorded and is now ready for release subject to adequate funding being available. This event will assist in raising much needed cash to make this possible.
