Donegal fiddle virtuouso, Tommy Peoples along with top Clare fiddler, Denis Liddy and Tommy Hayes (ex-Stockton’s Wing) head up what promises to be a highly memorable concert in Cois na hAbhna on Saturday night, 14th March. Other top class performers, including Siobhán Peoples, Michelle Mulcahy, Alf Duggan and Michael (Blackie) O’Connell will also take part on the night in this benefit event in aid of The Flowing Tide Music School in Doonbeg, West Clare.
The Music School was set up by well known Clare flute player, Bill McNamara in 1993 and has proved very popular with traditional musicians, particularly those from continental Europe and the USA. However, due to the economic downturn in recent years and problems with bank loan repayments, it’s future survival is now under serious threat. It would be a pity if musicians were deprived of this wonderful facility in West Clare and, apart from the terrific line-up for the concert, it’s hoped that people will also support it for the worthy project that it is and solidarity with its founder, a fellow traditionalist.
