ComhaltasLive #198 Segment 1 - The Brady Family
Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann, one of the biggest annual cultural festivals in Europe, will be hosted in August 2007 by Tullamore, Co. Offaly for the first time. The Brady family from Killeigh are one of the many great contributors to the rich heritage of traditional music and culture in the county over the years. John Brady, flute player and composer, led the famous Longridge Ceílí Band to three All-Ireland titles in 1977, 1978 and 1982. His daughter Attracta, fiddle player and teacher is chairperson of the Fleadh organising committee. Commencing this week’s programme, John and Attracta play a selection of Reels: “The Galway Reel” and “Castle Kelly”. Guitar accompaniment is by John O’Connell from Durrow, Co. Offaly.

Attracta!
Great to see on-line who you are. I met your dad back in Oct-Nov 2008 when we visited Cloncon and Fenter. Your dad probably told you. My mum looks like one of his sisters. I have two CDs your dad gave me. They are great!! I love music and especially traditional irish music. We planned to get to Ceili in Dublin but didn’t because of the really cold weather. Better than that we met your dad. I am a Colsh relation from Australia.

Could you forward your email to me again please and I will reply next Tuesday.

I have really enjoyed listening to your music, it’s beautiful and so inspiring. I’m from America and I’m coming to Ireland in the spring of 2008 for the first time. I’m trying to learn the language and learn as much as I can about Ireland. Ireland is my heritage and I’ve always wanted to visit. Thanks again for your beautiful music.
