ComhaltasLive #229 - 1: Karen Tweed Session
This week we present a variety of music from Fleadh Cheoil ha hÉireann in Tullamore, Co. Offaly, 2007, including a street session outside the Bridge Hotel and some of the under-18 fiddle competition.
One of the many attractions of Fleadh Cheoil ha hÉireann are the impromptu sessions in pubs, hotels and on the streets. This marathon session of reels is led by one of the masters of the piano accordion, Karen Tweed.

I watched this session in action. The Reels were - Boys of Malin - Bucks of Oranmore - Jolly Tinker and Over the moor to Maggie. What a shame that the other accordionist wasn’t named on here. I believe he hailed from Glasgow He was one of the best exponents of the PA that I’ve heard in a long time.

What a wonderful session. I’ve returned to watch it at least 2 dozen times. The flute player (never on screen) is also brilliant.
Thanks again.

great music,
i beleive that the male accordionist is Gerry Conlon from glasgow, he is a very popular musician with irish step dancers, he accompanied dancers recently at the all ireland irish dance championships, and beleive that he is at the world irish dance championships at the moment, he has many CDs mostly for the purpose of dancers, but are also worth a listen to if you’re not a dancer

anibody knows the name of first reel?
