Harpist Celine O’Meara from Castletroy Comhaltas in Limerick plays a selection of slip jigs “Tigh Raffertaigh” (by Mícheál Rooney) and “The Honey Bee”. Castletroy Comhaltas hosted the highly successful Munster Fleadh Cheoil 2013.

Derry fiddle player Aobhinn Loughlin plays a selection of slip jigs commencing with “The Kid on the Mountain”. Recorded in October 2012 in Cultúrlann Uí Chanáin in Derry, which will host, for the first time, Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann from 11th to 18th August 2013.

They were recorded at the tutors’ concert concluding Scoil Éigse 2008 at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann in Tullamore, Co. Offaly.

From Detroit, Michigan, Colleen Shanks plays three slip jigs on whistle. Colleen learned a lot of her music from Mick Gavin, who emigrated from Co. Clare in the 1960s having played with the Dalcassian Céilí Band. Over the decades fiddle player Mick has taught the music to many young musicians around Detroit. The second tune played by Colleen, called “The Whinny Hills of Leitrim” is unusual in that the first part is played once and the second part twice.
