LARGEST SESSION IN THE WORLD
A gathering of musicians from all over the world will attempt to create the largest session ever at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2008 in Tullamore, Co. Offaly. They hope to break the world’s largest session record by involving over 3,500 musicians as part of the opening to the Fleadh. It should be noted that this year’s event also includes some songs and the words for these are available all week from the Fleadh Office.
The original record was set last year (2007) at the same location when over 2,700 people took part.
The event starts at 8pm on Friday the 22nd August following the opening parade of Irish counties and overseas countries. The location is O’Connor Square, Tullmaore, County Offaly, Ireland.
An invitation is being extended to all musicians, singers & dancers around the world to come to the centre of Ireland and take part in this mammoth event. The World Record Traditional Irish Session marks the beginning of the 2008 Fleadh, which is the largest annual cultural event in Europe. Visit Tullamore during the Fleadh weekend and be part of an inspiring occasion.
