This week we present the fine playing of Gerry O’Connor (banjo), the Hurley family, the Celus Gort Leitreach, St. Roch’s and Dromore Céilí Bands, concertina players Jacki O’Connor and Aoife Neville and a selection from the 2008 Scoil Éigse Tutors’ Concert. We hope you enjoy the music!

03:18 The Hurley family from Sligo and Leesa, England, play a set of reels: “Down the Broom” and “The Gatehouse Maid”. Family members are Michael (flute), Des (fiddle), Kevin (whistle), Séan (bodhrán), Andrew (flute), Deirdre (keyboard), and Séan (bozouki).
06:34 A set of rarely-heard single jigs played by the Leitrim-based Ceolus Gort Leitreach Céilí Band at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2005 in Letterkenny, Co. Donegal.
10:29 A concertina duet by Scoil Éigre tutors Jacki O’Connor (from Limerick) and Aoife Neville (Kerry) at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2008 in Tullamore, Co. Offaly. They play three West Limerick slides, commencing with “Moss Murphy’s”.
12:40 A set of jigs ending with “The Tongs by the Fire”, played by St. Roch’s Céilí Band, Glasgow, Scotland, at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2008. Band members are: Louise Hunter, Eileen McArdle, Johnny Canning and Katie Boyle, fiddles; Mairéad McManus and Julia Reid, flute; Martina Callaghan, piano accordion; Paddy Callaghan, button accordion; Kathleen Boyle, piano and Mark Maguire on drums.
15:01 The Dromore Céilí Band from Co. Tyrone plays a selection of reels at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2008 in Tullamore, Co. Offaly. Band members are: John Woods, Aileen Swift and Fergal Fafferty, fiddles; Catriona Garry and John Quinn, flutes; Conor Woods and Edel Quinn, accordion; Tomás Quinn, banjo; Aiveen Gormley, piano and Margaret Maguire, drums.
17:32 The 2008 Scoil Éigse tutors play two reels at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2008 in Tullamore: “The Beauty Spot” and “Kiss the Maid Behind the Barrell”. Tutors included Paddy Ryan, Kathleen Nesbitt, Connie O’Connell and Nicky McAuliffe on fiddles; Nóirín Ní Shíulleabhán, tin whistle; Ann Mc Auliffe, accordion; Maeve Ní Lochlainn and Mary Tisdall O’Sullivan, concertinas and Maria Lynn McHugh, piano.
