624.01 Our dear, recently departed, inspirational friend Ashling Murphy from Ballyboy Comhaltas, Co. Offaly, plays the multi-part Reel “Bonny Kate” in Senior Fiddle Competition at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2018 in Drogheda, Co. Louth. One of the many audience members really enjoying Aisling’s performance is another of our sadly departed colleagues, the late great Nora Butler, seated in the front row.

624.02 Taking 1st place in 15-18 Céilí Bands Competition at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2018, Crossfields Céilí Band, CCÉ, Cr. Chronáin, Co. Cork, play a selection of Reels commencing with “The Duke of Leinster”. This was the Band’s 3rd successive win in the competition.

624.03 Sal Heneghan, CCÉ, Caisleán a’ Bharraigh, Co. Mayo, plays a Hornpipe - “The Drunken Sailor”- in 15-18 Fiddle Competition at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2018 in Drogheda, Co. Louth.

624.04 Two very old Reels played by Cavan flute player and multi-instrumentalist Barry Conaty. The Reels are “O’ Donnell’s Sligo Maid” (a version of the ’normal’ “Sligo Maid”) and “Sweet Biddy from Ballyvourney”. Recorded in Culturlann na hÉireann, Dublin in January 2022, Barry is from Ballyhaise, Co. Cavan.

624.05 An All-Ireland Senior Fiddle champion, Ursula Byrne plays two Reels composed by Josephine Keegan - “The Square in Crossmaglen” and “Coolderry Bridge”. Accompaniment is by Darren McGee. Ursula is Musical Director of Newry Trad Music School in her native Co. Down. Recorded at The Fiddlers of Oriel Concert at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2018 in Drogheda, Co. Louth.

624.06 From USA, the Centre for Irish Music 15-18 Céilí Band, Minneapolis, MN, play an Ed. Reavy Jig - “The Swans among the Rushes”, at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2018 in Drogheda, Co. Louth.

624.07 Look at the way newly-crowned All-Ireland Accordion Champion 2018, John McCann, is able to inspire his audience as he plays an encore of Reels after receiving his trophy ! John is from CCÉ, Lisnaskea, Co. Fermanagh.

624.08 Dublin musicians, brother and sister, Conor Cronin and Síofra Brennan play 2 Reels - “The bag of spuds” and “The Rookery” (V. Broderick), Recorded in Culturlann na hÉireann, Dublin in January 2022.

624.09 Taking 1st place at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2018, Carraigmór 15-18 Grúpa Ceoil from CCÉ, Lackagh, Galway. Full performance and presentation included.

624.10 Niamh Ryan, CCÉ, North London, UK, plays a Hornpipe - “Across the fence” (B. McGlinchey) - in Senior Button Accordion competition at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2018 in Drogheda, Co. Louth. Niamh is from Nenagh area in Co. Tipperary.

624.11 Orla Ní Dhuinnsléibhe, CCE, Carna, Co. Galway, plays a Reel - “The green fields of Glentown” - in the 15-18 Fiddle competition at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2018 in Drogheda, Co. Louth.

624.12 From Co. Wexford, the Craanhill 15-18 Céilí Band play a Jig - “The new house” (P. O’ Brien) - at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2018 in Drogheda, Co. Louth.

624.13 Banjo player Paidí Fitzpatrick with Kayley Curtis on keyboard, plays a Reel - “The old wooden bridge” (V. Broderick). Recorded in their local Warrenpoint Comhaltas branch, Co. Down, on 20th Nov. 2021.

624.14 Monaghan Fiddle player Donal McCague plays 2 Jigs followed by a Reel - “The green fields of Glentown”. Recorded at The Fiddlers of Oriel Concert at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2018 in Drogheda, Co. Louth.

624.15 In a session at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2018 in Drogheda, Co. Louth, a group of 9 Musicians play 2 Reels - “The maids of Mount Cisco” and “The boys of Ballysodare” (P. Killoran), with a Sean-nós Dance by Ryan Sheridan. The musicians include Conor Johnson, Conor McDonagh, Keira Lee, Hannah Lee, Ryan Sheridan, Aoife Johnson, Sinéad Johnson, Patrick McDonagh and Tutor/Organiser Michael Hurley on flute. They are from Paddy Killoran and South Sligo Comhaltas Branches in Sligo.
