650.01 Two Reels - “The Bunch of Currants” and “The Gossoon and his Dad” - played by Elaine O’ Reilly (banjo) and Daithí Gormley (accordion) with Keyboard accompaniment by Catherine McHugh. Recorded at the Paddy Killoran Commemorative Concert in Ballymote, Co. Sligo, on 17th Sept. 2022. Thanks to Tim Mulcahy and his colleagues for all their help with the recording.
650.02 Taking 1st place in Senior Duets Competition at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2022 in Mullingar, Ellen O’ Gorman and Joseph Mannion play a Jig - “An Síochán Sneachta”. Then are members of CCÉ, Cr. na gComarach, Waterford, and Joseph was a member of the All-Ireland winning Taobh na Mara Céilí Band.
650.03 Méabh Dunlop, CCÉ, Caisleán a’ Bharraigh, Mayo, plays a Jig - “Dooish” in the 15-18 Fiddle Competition at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2022 in Mullingar, Co. Westmeath.
650.04 All-Ireland Champions 2022 in the 15-18 Ladies Full Set Competition, St. Joseph’s, Streamstown, Co. Westmeath, with the second of their winning selections. Members of the Group are - Aoife Keegan, Caolin Elliffe, Ciara Daly, Joyce Conway, Katie Kelly, Sarah Conlon, Sarah McCormack and Zara Montgomery.
650.05 Alll-Ireland Senior Button Accordion Champion in 1963, John Bowe from Co. Offaly, recorded at a Session at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2022 in Mullingar, plays Reels - “Nell Davy’s” and “Spike Island Lassies”, at the end of which John’s grand-daughter Charlotte shows she has inherited some of the traditions !
650.06 The Jig “The Nightingale” composed by Séan Ryan, played by Takafumi Fukanuma (known as Taka), from Japan in the Senior Fiddle Competition at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2022 in Mullingar.
650.07 The Reel “Caher Rua” played in Senior Duets Competition by Manus and Molly McFadden, CCÉ, North London, London & Southern, UK, at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2022 in Mullingar, Co. Westmeath.
650 .08 The full selection played in Senior Grúpaí Ceoil Competition by Gort na mBó Grúpa, CCÉ, Bofield, Mayo, at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2022 in Mullingar, Co. Westmeath.
650.09 Taking 3rd place in the Senior Duets Competition at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2022 in Mullingar, Senan Shorthall and Naoise Kettle from Seán Ryan CCÉ, Camross, Co. Laois, play a Reel composed by Jim McKillop - “Maeve’s Reel”.
650.10 The 4-part Barndance - “Granuale” - played in the 15-18 Fiddle Competition at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2022 in Mullingar, by Kira Doppel from CCÉ, Irish Traditions of Atlanta, Georgia, US.
650.11 A Flute solo by Eden Penfold, CCÉ, Portlaoise, who plays “Jackson’s Reel” at a special Recording for Comhaltas Live organised by Laois Co. Board of Comhaltas in The Heritage House in Abbeyleix on 21st January 2023. Thanks to Aaron Mackessey and his colleagues for all their help organising the recordings in the magnificent Heritage House.
650.12 Taking 2nd place in 15-18 Duets at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2022, Conor McDonagh and Aoife Johnston from CCÉ, Paddy Killoran, Sligo, play a Jig - “The Banks of Newfoundland”.
650.13 The Árd Eiscir Céilí Band, CCÉ, Raithean, Co. Offaly, play a Hornpipe - “McGivney’s” - in the Senior Céilí Bands Competition at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2022 in Mullingar. Band Members are - Fiddles: Clare Anne Kearns, Ciara McKeogh and Danielle Lonergan; Flutes: Brian Deegan and Eoin Carton; Banjo: Maria Hartnett; Button Accordion: James Hogan; Concertina: Lelia Brady; Drums: Ciarán Brennan; Piano: Adrian Brady.
650.14 What an uplifting experience ( literally ! ) for the audience at the end of this inspiring performance by the Cumas Trad Band from New Ross, Co. Wexford, at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2022. The Band’s motto is “Showcasing ability through Traditional Music” - which they certainly do through these two Marches - “Roddy McCorley” and “The Boys of Wexford”. Great credit to the Band’s mentors Ann Barnes and Liam Murray. Musicians on Stage Front Row L/R Colin McEvoy, Jason Browne, Aidan Sinnot, Martin Browne and Chelsea Flynn. Back Row L/R Philip Tyrrell, Diarmuid Byrne, Patrick Gleeson, Michael Byrne, Liam Murray, Ann Barnes and Colum O’ Sullivan Cleere.
650.15 The Reel - “Waiting for a Call” - played in the Senior Fiddle Competition at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2022 by Jamie Smith of CCÉ, Irish Minstrels, Scotland.
