A selection of polkas from one of the big sessions which take place every Wednesday night at Comhaltas headquarters in Monkstown, Dublin. These sessions have resulted in the publication of three books of session tunes, compiled by fiddle player and Comhaltas Projects Officer Brian Prior. Each book contains over 100 tunes arranged in session sets and is accompanied by a CD. Books and CDs are available for purchase from the Comhaltas website.

Also from the Nyah 2007 festival, a selection of Sliabh Luachra polkas played by fiddle player Séamus Creagh (who hails originally from Co. Westmeath) and Rob Murphy of Cavan on flute. Séamus names the second and third polkas as “The Lonesome Polka” and “Dan Mack’s” respectively.

The musicians are Aoife Granville (Kerry) on flute, Tarlath Brennan (Sligo) on banjo, Mona Walsh (Kerry) on concertina, Marie Walsh (Galway) on accordion and Ann-Marie Acosta (USA) on piano.
