664.01 All-Ireland Champion for 2011 on Concert Flute and Tin Whistle, Orlaith McAuliffe from London is joined by the McKee brothers from Derry - Stephen on Banjo and Eoin on Bodhrán, with Eddie Kane (Kildare) on Guitar, for a selection of 3 Reels - “Tommy People’s”, “The Long Drop” and “The Galtee Rangers”. Stephen and Eoin played with the Slieve Gallion Céilí Band (on Banjo and Drums) in Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2019. Incidentally, Stephen is playing the rarely-heard 22-fret Banjo, as against the more usual 19 fret.

664.02 Taking 1st place in the Senior Fiddle Competition at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2023, Ademar O’ Connor, CCÉ, Edenderry, Co. Offaly, plays “The High Level” Hornpipe. I remember recording Ademar when he was about 13 years old and asking him what he’d like to be when he grows up and he said “6 feet” ! He has proved himself to be a man of his word and he’s picked an appropriate tune - “The High Level”.

664.03 Two County Down musicians, Oisín Bradley on Concertina from Warrenpoint and Rory McEvoy on Bouzouki from Newcastle, play 2 Reels - “Farewell to London” (B. McGlinchey) and “The Baltimore Salute” (J. McDermott). Recorded in a Session in the Greville Arms Hotel in Mullingar at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2023. Rory took 1st place in the Senior Accompaniment Competition at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2023, with Oisín providing the music for him. Also, Oisín, with colleague Aoibhin Morgan on fiddle, took 3rd place in the Senior Duets Competition (See Comhaltas Live Prog. 660.3).

664.04 In the Senior Céilí Bands Competition at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2023, The Grange Céilí Band from CCÉ, Camross, Co. Laois, play “The Ballyoran” Hornpipe (Seán Ryan). Band Members are - Fiddles : Naoise and Lily Kettle and Ellen Scott; Flutes : Tara Fahy and Katie Scully; Accordion ; Conall Ó Cnáimhín; Concertina : Caoimhe Lowry; Banjo : David Scott; Piano : Senan Shortall; Drums : Sarah Bourke.

664.05 All-Ireland Senior Champions for 2023 - Aaron Glancy on Button Accordion and Amy Cullen on Drums combine for a lovely rendition of The Reel - “Bonny Kate”. Recorded in their local Ballymote at the Annual Paddy Killoran Traditional Festival in September 2023.

664.06 From CCÉ Wicklow Miners, Co. Wicklow, Cian Harper, James Lambert and Ryan Harper, play the Reel “M and M” in the Senior Trios Competition at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2023 in Mullingar.

664.07 The full selection played in 15-18 Grúpaí Ceoil Competition at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2023 by CCÉ, Gorey, Ballygarrett, Co. Wexford.

664.08 The Drombeg Céilí Céilí Band from Leap, Co. Cork, play Jigs - “Apples in Winter” and “The Kerry Jig” - in the Senior Céilí Bands Competition at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2023. Band members are - Fiddles : Helen and Mary Therese Coughlan and Áine Higgins; Flutes : Maria and Mairéad Carey; Accordion : Eoin Burke; Concertina : Donagh McElligott; Banjo : Shane Scanlon; Piano : Mary Meagher; Drums : Ciarán French.

664.09 A group of 8 Fiddle players reflecting their native Sligo style of music with a selection of Reels - “The Sligo Maid” and “Molloy’s Favourite” composed by the legendary Paddy Killoran (1904/65). Piano accompaniment is by Fionnuala Kearns and the 8 fiddle players are L/R Philip Doddy, Geraldine Seery, Adrienne Lee, Caoimhe Kearns, Fiona Doherty, Ava Glancy Mary Kate Nolan and Michael Hurley. Recorded at the Annual Paddy Killoran Traditional Festival in Ballymote in September 2023.

664.10 Erin McGinn from CCÉ, Newcastle, Co. Down, plays a Hornpipe - “Seán Maguire’s” - in the 15-18 Fiddle Competition at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2023 in Mullingar, Co. Westmeath.

664.1 A selection of Reels - “Molly Bawn” and “The Foxhunter” - played by St. Roch’s Céilí Band, CCÉ, Irish Minstrels, Scotland, in the Senior Céilí Bands Competition at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2023 in Mullingar, Co. Westmeath.

664.12 Taking 1st place in the Senior Trios Competition at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2023 in Mullingar, Ryan Sheridan, Sinead Johnston and Conor McDonagh play a Reel - “Aughamore” (Ed. Reavy). They are members of CCÉ, Paddy Killoran,Ballymote, Sligo.

664.13 The Melbourne Céilí Band who travelled over 17,000 Km from Australia to participate in the Senior Céilí Bands Competition 2023 in Mullingar, play a selection of Jigs - “Morrisons Jig” (also called “The Stick across the Hob”) and “The Legacy Jig”. Bringing a new element of sound and vision to the Competition they received a rousing and well deserved reception from a delighted audience. Members of the Band are - FIDDLE ; Angus Barbary, Caitlín Brennan and Declan Simpson; FLUTE : Máirtín Staunton; CONCERTINA : Shauna Moore; PIPES : Conor Hoy; BANJO : Anthony McTigue; PIANO : Margaret Carty; DRUMS : Bec Simpson; DIDGERIDOO : Rhys Crimmin.

664.14 From Keady CCÉ, Co. Armagh, taking 3rd place in 15-18 Duets Competition at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2023, Cadhla Tohill and Danú McKinney play a Reel - “Farewell to Éireann”.

664.15 Eilidh Patterson, Gemma Blevins and Michael Dudgeon play a Hornpipe - “The Plane of the Plank” - in the Senior Trios Competition at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2023. They are members of CCÉ, St. James the Great, Scotland.
