667.01 Wishing a very happy Christmas and New Year to all the wonderful musical colleagues I’ve had the pleasure of meeting up with and really looking forward to experiencing more of our lovely culture in 2024. Willie Fogarty. A group of a dozen musicians with a selection of 4 Reels, including 3 composed by Josie McDermott - “Trip to Birmingham”, “Baltimore Salute” and “Fr O’ Grady’s trip to Bocca” . Recorded in Comhaltas Headquarters in Monkstown, Dublin on 21st October 2023 and led by Martin Mulligan and newly crowned All-Ireland Senior Flute Champion for 2023 Shauna Cullen from Sligo. The musicians include L/R - Emma Woods, Maria Ging, Triona Morrow, Caoilinn Morrow, Tom Morrow, John Devanney, Shauna Cullen, Martin Mulligan, Abigail Ní Bhriain, David Coyne, Seán Murphy and Aaron Moore. Sincere thanks to Bernard O’ Sullivan for all his help in organising the recording.

667.02 The newly crowned Fiddler of Dooney 2023, Ademar O Connor from Co. Offaly, playing a Reel - “Brendan McGlinchey’s” - in the Competition in Sligo on 29th October 2023. Ademar also won the Senior Fiddle Competition at Fleadh Sheoil na hÉireann 2023 in Mullingar.

667.03 Taking 2nd place in the 15-18 Duets Competition at the Ulster Fleadh Cheoil 2023 in Dromore, Co. Tyrone, Cadhla Tohill and Danú McKinney from CCÉ, Keady, Co. Armagh, play a Hornpipe - “The Standing Abbey”.

667.04 Edel Conway, Nell Kettle and Fionn Connolly from CCÉ, Portlaoise/Clonaslee, Co. Laois, play a Reel - “The Red Bee” (J. Liddy) - in the 15-18 Trios Competition at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2023 in Mullingar, Co. Westmeath.

667.05 Taking 3rd place in the Senior Céilí Bands Competition at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2023, Cnoc an Óir Céilí Band from Baile an Bhuinneánaigh, Co. Kerry, play a Hornpipe - “The Scent of the Bog”. Band Members are - Fiddles : Caoimhe Scanlan, Colm Kissane and Katie Lucey; Flutes : Eilish Murphy and Mike Rice; Accordion : Padraig Holly; Concertina : Maeve Scanlan; Banjo : Conor Hennessy; Piano : Bridget McCarthy; Drums : Ian Sheehy

667.06 The Jig - “Charlie Hunter’s” - played by Aodh Mac Murchaidh, Jude Ó Cuaig and Tomás Ó Ceallaigh when taking 2nd place in the Senior Trios Competition at the Ulster Fleadh Cheoil 2023 in Dromore, Co. Tyrone. They are from CCÉ, Ring of Gullion/Silverbridge, Armagh.

667.07 A Vincent Broderick composition - “The Night of the Big Wind” - played by Co. Antrim Whistle player John Linden at a Session in the Greville Hotel at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2023 in Mullingar. Guitar accompaniment is by Jordan Lively from Co. Down.

667.08 At the Connacht Fleadh Cheoil 2023 in Ballina, Co. Mayo, the South Sligo 15-18 Céilí Band play 2 Reels - “Mike Flanagan’s” and “Lillies in the Field”.

667.09 Taking 1st place in 15-18 Duets Competition at the Ulster Fleadh Cheoil 2023 in Dromore, Co. Tyrone, Ciarán McKenna and Megan Teague from CCÉ, Clogher Valley, Co. Tyrone, play a Jig - “The Castleblaney Piper” (Ed. Reavy”)

667.10 Taking 1st place in 15-18 Céilí Bands Competition at the Munster Fleadh Cheoil 2023 in Tralee, Co. Kerry, Crossfields Céilí Band from CCÉ, Cr. Chrónáin, Co. Cork, play Reels - “Mulhaire’s” and “The Bird in the Bush”.

667.11 The Reel - “George People’s” - played by Orla Ní Chorragáin from CCÉ, Monaghan Town, when taking 3rd place in the Senior Fiddle Competition at the Ulster Fleadh Cheoil 2023 in Dromore, Co. Tyrone.

667.12 Taking 2nd place in the Senior Duets Competition at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2023 in Mullingar, Meibh and Naoise Dooley play a Hornpipe. They are members of CCÉ, Craobh Chuilinn, Co. Offaly.

667.13 Two Jigs - “The Boys of the Town” and “The Haunted House” (V. Broderick), played by St. Roch’s Céilí Band from CCÉ, Irish Minstrels, Scotland, at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2023 in Mullingar. Band Members are - Fiddles : Sarah Donaldson, Louise Hunter, Caroline Kay and Siobhán McArdle; Flutes : Joseph Armstrong and Ciera Doohan; Accordions : David Browne and Siobhán McAleenan; Piano : Kevin Murphy; Drums : Róisín Anne Hughes.

667.14 What a lovely reception at the end of their performance from the heart by Shinobu Narita and Kayoko and Minoru Chiba, all the way from CCÉ, Japan. They play a Seán Ryan Jig - “Dancing Eyes”.

667.15 Mary and Sinéad Duggan from CCÉ, Lackagh, Co. Galway, play a Hornpipe - “Dance of the Honey Bees” - in the Senior Duets Competition at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2023 in Mullingar, Co. Westmeath.
